Khopra Danda trek is newly opened trekking route in Annapurna region. It is less-crowded trekking trail in Annapurna region where you will be delighted with an opportunity to unwind in pristine nature and get the exceptional view of mountain peaks. Mount Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Nilgiri (7,061m), Bharha Shikhar (7,647m), Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South (7,219m), Hiunchuli (6,434m), Machhapuchhre (fishtail, 6,997m, Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna IV (7,525m) and Lamjung Himal (6,983m) are the common mountain peaks seen during the trek (subject to clear weather).

The fascinating culture of the region is another main reason to trek Khopra in recent days; especially in Janaipurnima. Local here drink the blood of yak on the festive day of Janaipurnima. It falls on full moon day of August.

People here believe that drinking the blood of Yak is the cure to many disease including cancer. Yak graze freely on open meadows; they graze many herbal plants including Yarshagumba. Yarshagumba is regarded as the master herbal which cure many diseases. People don’t kill the yak but inject on some part of yak’s body to draw blood for serving purpose.

Day02: Drive: Kathmandu – Pokhara (827m/2,700ft) – 6 – 7 hours trek

Day03: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga

Day04: Tikhedhunga – Ghorepani

Day05: Ghorepani – Swata

Day06: Swata to Sistibum

Day07: Sistibum – Khopra

Day08: Explore day at Khopra

Day09: Khopra – Dobato

Day10: Dobato – Tadapani

Day11: Tadapani – Jhinu

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport (1,300m/4,264ft)

Our Annapurna Encounter Trek’s airport representative will receive you outside the terminal hall. Please, look for our Treks play card. He will transfer you to the hotel, introduce your trekking guide and check the necessities. In afternoon, stroll around the colorful market of bustling city – Thamel.

Day 02: Drive: Kathmandu – Pokhara (827m/2,700ft) – 6 – 7 hours trek

After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing around the famous UNESCO world heritage sites of Kathmandu. We visit Pashupatinath Temple – the sacred Hindu temple located on the bank of holy river Bagmati, Boudha Stupa – the biggest stupa architecture in Nepal and Swayambhunath Stupa – the 2,000 years old legendary Stupa perched on a the hillock.

The sightseeing tour also covers the visit to Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, the Krishna Temple, the Kumbheswore Temple, the Golden Temple and many more. The sightseeing tour ends Kathmandu Durbar Square that is home to living goddess Kumari, Nautale Durbar, the Kaal Bhairav, the Swer Bhairav, the Freak Street and more.

Day03: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga

After breakfast, we drive to Nayapul which is at around one and half hour driving distance from Pokhara. As we reach Nayapul, we start trekking to Tikhedhunga. It takes around three hours of walk. We walk along the bank of Modi Khola (River) and cross Birethanti & Hille to reach Tikhedhunga.

Day04: Tikhedhunga – Ghorepani

After breakfast, we walk across Ulleri and walk up 3,000 stone stairs. The trail today tests your endurance and stamina. We explore many small villages of Gurung and Magar community during the trek. Walking through the magical forest of rhododendron, we reach Bathanti and few hours climb from here leads us to Ghorepani.

Day05: Ghorepani – Swata

Today, we make a pre-dawn hike to the vantage point of Poon Hill. It is located at a walking distance of around 45 minute from Ghorepani. After sunrise view and exploration of surrounding mountain, we trek downhill and cross few community based hotel to reach Swata.

Day 06: Swata to Sistibum

Today we follow the less-trodden route to Sistibum. We walk waterfall and walk deep into forest to reach Sistubum.

Day07: Sistibum – Khopra

The trail from Sistibum to Khopra is interesting. We climb along the ridges and walk across the cluster of rhododendron, fir and oak to reach Khopra.
Located at an altitude of 3,660m, Khopra is truly a mesmerizing viewpoint. Here we get to witness the awe-inspiring view of snow-capped peaks like Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Tukuche, Dhampus Pass, Fulbari Danda and others.

Day08: Exploration day at Khopra

It is going to be the great day today. We will visit the fascinating lake Khare. It is few hour hike from Khopra. The Khare Lake is the place where Yak blood drinking culture is noticed on the day of Janaipurnima. We also hike around the village to observe local culture and tradition.

Day09: Khopra – Dobato

Walking through the magical forest of rhododendron, we trek ahead to Dobato. The scenery is beautiful.
